Universities are so multicultural today that a chance of being seen as "that guy" is very small because most of the girls come from all over the world, they wont be talking to each other about that sort of thing. Besides, Universities are also massive so who is going to take the time to care about you gaming anyway.
If you want, try taking some time to observe the social groups around the campus (usually by race, or study group) and see which girls fit where, from there you can try gaming one of the girls from a separate group and this will transition you into meeting the other girls within the circle as a friend rather than "that guy".
I also read Andy's article on campus daygame and though he says not to game campus girls I think university is a freaking amazing place to try game because you already have plenty in common as well as a hub for instant dates and meeting up in the future. One thing is important that if you do get too deep into university game, it will distract you from your studies when you find yourself surrounded by girls you may feel obliged to talk to, so keep a safe place around campus like the library for some real study time.
