I'm going to Italy next week and I will be in Rome for a couple of days. Seeing as I am unable to speak any Italian, how should i go about doing approaches? Other Tourists maybe? Or just speak english and hope they understand :D

Also if anyone has been to Italy/similar european country, is there any difference between girls there and in London?

Any help or advice would be brill :)

You could just ask "Do you speak English?" (Parla inglese?) and then go from there. Maybe learn some key phrases as its always polite to at least try and talk some of the language. This website looks alright for that sort of thing:

I've met a few Italian girls in London. In my experience they have tended to be very nice and often quite headstrong and confident. But having said that, I have only met one or two.

yeah the phrases sound good, but in that case why don't I just ask them in English? if I do a different language then my vibe/tone might be bad and I will get walkaways...

I wouldn't worry too much. It is just considered polite to try and speak the language. And honestly you'd be surprised about how much of a chance people will give you and how patient they are.

But you know what I really think - I'd say try both ways and experiment. Thats what its all about!

Why don't you learn "This might sound a bit random" or "I don't speak Italian, but I just saw you..." in Italian? So you at least gave her the compliment (in her own language), then find out if she speaks any English! ;)

I know several Italian girls and the general consensus was that they thought most Engish guys were either gay or incredibly shy, until they came to the UK.
Itaian girls are approached all the time, so I'd go direct with a compliment, and then ask them about themselves. By doing this you avoid the typical Italian male "hey baby!" type heavy handed approach but show your attracted to them and by qualifying them, you show that you want to know more about her, which puts you ahead of the local male population!

Peace,

I have decided I'm just gonna run it as usual, but just ask "you speak english?" after I have stopped her. I think if I try and speak in Italian it will be clunky and I can get her to teach me some later on in the convo :D

cheers for advice, will report back when I return from my adventures.
